Include tobacco bond, 1656, pledged by Robert Ely and John Smythe to the commissioner for Warwick County, Va.; will, 1678, of Thomas T. Moss; legal documents, 1774-1790, primarily subpoenas for lawsuits in Loudoun and Culpeper counties, Va.; statements pertaining to settlements of estates and accounts; and legal notes, 1781, of the Maryland Court of Admiralty concerning the schooner Betsy. Include receipt, 1784, for sale of John Guthrie's military service claim; agreement, 1785, of John Randolph, for slave hire, support, and taxes; letter of introduction, 1785, signed by A. Nelson on behalf of Lewis Littlepage; printed letter, 1785, of George Meade, Philadelphia Pa., to his creditors; with bills of exchange and protests; and letter 1787, of James Maury, Liverpool, England, to Robert Carter, Nomini Hall, Va., concerning the market for tobacco. Include material, 1787-1810, pertaining to William Augustine Washington's administration of the estate of Thomas Turner (d. 1787), for court costs in Westmoreland and King and Queen counties, Va., and payment of taxes on land and slaves. Also include receipts and indentures for land in Loudoun, Lee, and Prince William counties, Va., and Berkeley, Mason, Monongalia, and Harrison counties, Va. (later W. Va.).
